It is a great time to welcome you to visit beautiful Taiwan and experience her multifaceted culture and the hospitality of its people. Taiwan is a new, exciting and safe destination for travelers the world over. New advances to Taiwan have made traveling the island simple and easy such as the Taiwan High Speed Train (THSR), which is designed to travel at speeds of 350 km per hour thereby shrinking travel time between Taipei and Kaohsiung (South Taiwan) to only 90 minutes. It is also provides a most efficient one day round trip between North and South.

Taiwan’s museums will impress you with one of the foremost collections of Chinese art and objects in the world. Taipei 101 will dazzle you with a scenic view from the top of the world’s tallest building.
As for food, Taiwan is a veritable paradise for the true gourmet boasting fine authentic cuisine from Taiwan and also all the different regions of China.

Taiwan is an exciting, thriving place where history meets modern ideas. These multifaceted aspects of Taiwan are both interlocked and divided between perceptions of tradition and modernity making Taiwan truly global.
We are confident that you will find your trip to Taiwan a most cherished experience for mixing business with pleasure. We look forward to welcoming your delegates in 2008.

Yours truly,

Tsung-Hsien Su,
President,
Organizing Committee of the Annual Meeting of IUGA, Taipei, 2008

I am honored to invite you to join the 33rd Annual Meeting of the International Urogynecological Association in Taipei, Taiwan September 13th to 17th, 2008. The venue will be the Taipei International Convention Center located in the most fashionable district of the city.

The people of Taiwan wish to invite you to our island paradise. Our exotic food will tempt you and the hospitable diverse people will show their delight at your arrival by giving you top quality service. Taipei is alive with activity and you will be able to see it first hand being so close to Taipei 101. Please come and see the color of the neon at night under a red sky as the sun sets while walking around the outside shops. Use the convenient mass transit system or taxi to travel to the different night markets and computer stores for great deals on your purchases of electronics made by your favorite Taiwanese brands.

Take the new high-speed rail and visit other parts of the island. You can visit a mountain top teahouse or hot spring in the South without ever having to change hotels. With this new investment in infrastructure, our bullet train is capable of making the journey in less than two hours at a speed of 350 km per hour.

The scientific committee will recruit a roster full of important names and medical achievements to address you on the latest advances and techniques that without them, any professional wouldn’t be complete. Your interest will peak when you join small group discussions to address your questions and share your inputs. Global practices of Urogynecology come home as you bring this much needed knowledge into the lives of everyday woman back in your native country so that the experiences you’ve learned in Taiwan give added value to the citizens of home. Your multi-national mindset will be the envy of other practitioners.

Please stay an extra day and attend the Mid-Autumn Festival BBQ. There’s something magical about sitting with your friends in the open summer air around a pit of coals and cool drinks, eating delicious food and talking about the enjoyable experience shared.

Taiwan’s multi-cultures and combination of the past, present, and future into one integrated whole will be yours for the sampling when you come to my island. I know that we are all going to learn and share a great deal. I eagerly await your arrival in September, 2008.

Yours truly,

Simon Shung-Shi Chiang
